Aboriginal Education at EHPS is a significant perspective which is integrated across the whole school curriculum. Our aim is to ensure opportunities for all students and staff to gain an increased understanding of the cultural heritage and historic events which have shaped Aboriginal society and value the contribution made to our community by Aboriginal people.
Highlights of 2010
Continued the relationship between the NSW Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG) and EHPS to understand and enhance the delivery of Aboriginal perspectives at EHPS.
Continued to purchase resources to support Aboriginal Education including interactive programs through Technology and Library sessions. Provided professional development sessions for all staff to support units of work as well as one member attending a specialised program at Muogamaurra looking at Aboriginal food sources, lifestyle and cultural activities.
Students attended excursions to the Filed of Mars and local walks gaining knowledge of local Aborininal history.
A visit by well-known Aboriginal artist, Lewis Burns, who worked with the students to produce 4 large murals. The murals represented stories of the local area's significent history and geography.
