The Epping Heights School Band provides a wonderful opportunity for your child to enjoy playing an instrument. The current band includes players of trumpets, tubas, clarinets, flutes, trombones, saxophones and the drums and has expanded recently to include stringed instruments adding to the overall sound of our band.
The Band is given regular performance opportunities with the first major event being the Anzac Day Service. One of our former band members is in much demand by the Epping RSL to play at their their services after he played 'The Last Post' at a service a few years ago.
The band is now under the direction of a new bandmaster, Paul Murchinson. He is very much enjoying working with our children and is hoping to expand the band both in numbers and in repertoire.
The band convenor, Mr Chris Salmon works hard to plan and organise band activities and is well supported by a large group of parents.
There are so many benefits in being part of a school band, including being part of a team, developing strong school spirit, benefiting from performance opportunities, building self-esteem, enjoying music, developing commitment to hard work and practise - the list goes on.
Children are able to enter the band following one year of tuition. They are then required to maintain group or individual lessons to remain in the band.
I encourage you to consider your child joining the band.
